The schedule VI of the Wildlife (Protection) Act of 1972 contains the plants, which are prohibited from cultivation and planting. This schedule was added through the Amendment Act of 1991. 

These plants are as follows

1. Beddomes’ cycad (Cycas beddomei)
2. Blue Vanda (Vanda soerulec)
3. Kuth (Saussurea lappa)
4. Ladies slipper orchids (Paphiopedilum spp.)
5. Pitcher plant (Nepenthes khasiana)
6. Red Vanda (Rananthera imschootiana)

Statement 1 is correct. Joint Forest Management (JFM) is an approach and program initiated in the context of the National Forest Policy of 1988 wherein state forest departments support local forest-dwelling and forest fringe communities to protect and manage forests and share the costs and benefits from the forests with them. Communities organize themselves into a JFM Committee to protect and manage nearby forests, guided by locally prepared bye laws and micro plans.

Statement 2 is incorrect. The key element in Joint Forest Management is that communities have the power to manage the use of forests by members and but not all forest produces. The benefits to them is direct access and control on the use and sale of most NTFPs and a share in the income from timber as well as other intangible benefits from local ecosystem services like water recharge, pollination, wildlife habitat etc. 

Statement 3 is incorrect. Typically, there is one Joint Forest Management Committee in one revenue village. However, in special situations, e.g. historical collaboration between neighboring villages, or where it doesn’t make sense to divide the forest, a JFMC may cover two or more villages. On the other hand, especially in tribal areas, there may be situations where one village may have several dispersed hamlets, JFMCs may be set up at the sub-revenue village or hamlet level.

Non-timber forest products, also known as non-wood forest products, minor forest produce, special, minor, alternative and secondary forest products, are useful substances, materials and/or commodities obtained from forests which do not require harvesting trees.

A Joint Forest Management Committee ( or JFMC in short) is a democratic, decentralized and transparent local institution of forest and forest fringe dwelling communities, that is part of the Gram Sabha fully or partially and set up as per the provisions of applicable JFM rules/guidelines of the state.

Statement 1 is incorrect. The National Green Tribunal was established on 18.10.2010 under the National Green Tribunal Act 2010.

Statement 2 is incorrect. The National Green Tribunal was established for effective and expeditious disposal of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation of forests and other natural resources including enforcement of any legal right relating to the environment and giving relief and compensation for damages to persons and property and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. 

The Tribunal's dedicated jurisdiction in environmental matters shall provide speedy environmental justice and help reduce the burden of litigation in the higher courts. The Tribunal is mandated to make and endeavour for disposal of applications or appeals finally within 6 months of filing of the same.

Statement 3 is correct. The National Green Tribunal shall not be bound by the procedure laid down under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, but shall be guided by principles of natural justice.

The Central Pollution Control Board advises the Central Government on any matter concerning the prevention and control of water and air pollution and the improvement of the quality of air. It also plans and causes to be executed a nation-wide programm for the prevention, control or abatement of water and air pollution. Statement 2 is incorrect. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), a statutory organization, was constituted in September 1974 under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. Statement 1 is incorrect. It is a landscape-level approach for wildlife Conservation. It aims at strengthening and improving the Protected Area Network.

The first National Wildlife Action Plan (NWAP) was adopted in 1983, based upon the decision taken in the XV meeting of the Indian Board for Wildlife held in 1982. The plan had outlined the strategies and action points. 

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change unveiled India's third National Wildlife Action Plan for 2017-2031 on the inaugural day of the Global Wildlife Programme (GWP) conference on 2nd October 2017. Statement 2 is incorrect.

The Plan is the future road map for wildlife conservation in India.  The third National Wildlife Action Plan is unique as this is the first time India has recognized the concerns relating to climate change impact on wildlife and stressed on integrating actions that need to be taken for its mitigation and adaptation into wildlife management planning processes.  Further, the Plan adopts a "landscape approach" in the conservation of all wildlife that have an ecological value to the ecosystem and to mankind irrespective of where they occur.

The Plan also gives special emphasis to the recovery of threatened species and aquatic ecosystems. Further, the Action Plan emphasize the importance of integrated management of coastal and marine ecosystems in India. Under five themes, there are 103 conservation actions and 250 projects in the Action Plan.

TRIFED: The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) came into existence in 1987. Social forestry scheme can be categorized into groups:

Farm forestry

• Individual farmers are being encouraged to plant trees on their own farmland to meet the domestic needs of the family.

• Non-commercial farm forestry is the main thrust of most of the social forestry projects in the country today.

• It is to provide shade for the agricultural crops; as wind shelters; soil conservation or to use wasteland.

Community forestry:

It is the raising of trees on community land and not on private land as in farm forestry. All these programs aim to provide for the entire community and not for any individual. The government has the responsibility of providing seedlings, fertilizer but the community has to take responsibility for protecting the trees. 

Extension forestry:

Planting of trees on the sides of roads, canals and railways, along with planting on wastelands is known as ‘extension’ forestry, increasing the boundaries of forests.

Under this project, there has been creation of wood lots in the village common lands, government wastelands and panchayat lands.
