Anthropology as an Optional Subject in UPSC:

Anthropology is one of the optional subjects in the UPSC-Civil Services Examination. It comprises two papers with a weightage of 500 marks. The UPSC Anthropology syllabus for Civil Services Exam focuses on the candidates' ability to understand the subject as science and apply the knowledge to problems faced by the people.

Why to choose Anthropology as an optional?

  • The questions asked in the paper are direct and concrete.
  • It is scoring as you have to give precise and to-the-point answers to the questions asked. If compared to humanities subjects, it is more scoring.
